Re-e-wind, when the crowd say bo-selecta

Because I'm a freelancer and work from home most of the time, the only 'company' I usually get during the day (when I'm not meeting with a client that is) comes from the delicious sounds of DI.FM's Lounge Internet radio station.

I listen to it because I'm one of those people who just can't work in total silence, but also find voices and spoken word distracting, so this blend of pure ambient / chill is the perfect background noise for me (and I use 'noise' in the loosest sense of the word there, as it's actually quite tranquil and mesmerising most of the time).

I've discovered some of my favourite groups while listening to this station (artists like Zero 7, Bent, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo and Royksopp, etc) however because some of them are quite niche and obscure, you can't always find their tracks on iTunes, so more often than not I resign myself to accepting that - aside from a buying a CD - I'll just have to keep streaming in the hope that the song or songs I like loop around again... that was, however, until I discovered RadioLover by Bit Cartel for OSX.

RadioLover by Bit Cartel

This absolutely superb piece of software not only allows you to actually record streaming radio, but it also breaks each individual song down into its own MP3 file when it writes it to your hard drive, and even places each song in its own artist folder for you, instead of just dumping the whole recording into one, huge sound file.

Because I was so impressed with the software, I actually paid the measly $15 to register it, which allows you to record unlimited amounts of streaming audio, however the demo / trial version allows you to record up to 30 mins of uninterrupted audio, which is still more than enough to record your favourite song when you hear it, so do yourself a favour and grab a copy of this splendid software today; you won't be disappointed :)
